I'm very happy to bring you a very special Saturday Retreat - a full and unhurried day with me in my farm house on Block Island, RI.
Hand-building is an ancient pottery-making technique that involves creating forms without a pottery wheel, using the hands, fingers, and simple tools.
We'll focus on creating organic, large and medium size vessel shapes and, explore clay as an intuitive and earthy material in various techniques; pinch pottery, coil building, and slab building.
We'll also explore the ancient methods of coloring pottery that i use in my ceramic work. You'll be able to apply it to your art towards the end of the session.
After the class, the clay bodies will need to dry for about one week, to ensure maximum success. I'll then fire them. You can either collect the items yourself or i can mail them to you. This will take about 4-5 weeks. I'll email you once the pieces are ready.
You don't need any experience, and if you do, the class will serve as a perfect opportunity to expand your practice in a magical setting.
You will all leave the class with the knowledge and skill to approach hand-building on your own with freedom, in a contemplative state of mind and, wonderful memories.
Class ends at 3:30PM
Included:Block Island, located 13 miles out to sea, is spectacular and becomes more beautiful with each changing season.
The island is surrounded by 21 miles of beach. More than 43 percent of the island has been preserved; twenty-eight miles of walking trails are maintained for your use.
My house is one of the oldest farmhouses on the island so it's very rustic but beautiful. The house is located at the end of a long dirt road, very quiet and serene. We enjoy a large private yard where we can relax, eat, even create the vessels in fresh air if we all wish.
Specific address will be email to you after your purchase.
